Why I'm Obsessed With The Grunge Aesthetic
Share
Let’s get into why grunge aesthetic art is my jam, and how it’s intertwined with the magic of my darker inclinations with my artwork. Spoiler alert: it's all about celebrating the messy, and the magnificently imperfect.
It's about finding beauty in the beautifully broken.
Grunge art is rebellion. It's all about that raw, unpolished vibe, with textures that scream, “I’ve been through some shit.”
When I’m working on a piece, I channel that gritty, unpolished vibe. I’ll splash some ink, distress the canvas or paper, and let things get a little chaotic. It’s not just about making a mess, though. There’s a method to the madness—a way of embracing imperfections and turning them into something that feels real and alive.
What I love most about grunge aesthetic art is its unapologetic nature. It’s like art that’s had a wild night out and doesn’t give a fuck about looking pristine or perfect.
I am none of those things, myself.
No one is.
There’s something incredibly freeing about letting go of those meticulous details and instead focusing on the mood, the message, and the unhinged emotions.
It's a reminder to let go of control and fear, because that's the space where real growth happens.
So, next time you see a piece of art that looks like it’s been through one too many late nights or hasn’t had a proper bath, remember: that’s the beauty of grunge. It’s art that’s as imperfect and raw as life itself, and that’s what makes it so compelling.
It's definitely a style that you'll keep seeing in my original works.
